What neighborhood do you live in? I live with my family at Highland Park. The kids (6 and 8) go to Lincoln Elementary School.
Why did you decide to join a Chicago coworking space? Artizone is an “online” business, that connects small businesses around Chicago with consumers all over the metroplex. As such, and with the relatively small team we have in Chicago, we don’t REALLY need an office. However, having a place we can work together (Nilam and myself, mainly) is clearly good for the team. A shared environment is good for us, as I believe having more people around us would not only provide a nicer atmosphere, but would rather (and has, already) support our business-development relationships.
What do you do for work? I’m a co-owner and the COO of the company. I’m heading all marketing activities, logistics, Customer-Care and Product-Marketing.
What do you do for fun? I bike, play the piano, take photographs, cook (and taste wine) and spend time with the family.
What’s one thing about you we’d never learn just by chatting you up at the coffee bar? I used to be a teacher in high school (back in Israel) and I loved it.
What do you do to keep yourself balanced? I think I’m a fairly balanced person. I try to have meaningful conversations with my friends and my colleagues. I believe that real conversations that touch the depth of things help balance anything.
How has your business benefitted from being in a coworking space? We have developed a few relationships with people that worked / still work at Enerspace. We are able to maintain a routine (REALLY important) and on a personal level, Nilam makes me take the stairs, so our business have a (little) healthier COO.
