Why did you join a coworking space? I like being around energetic, smart, motivated people — and I don’t like working from home. Plus, my wife and I are expecting our first child in March 2016, so my home office will soon become less conducive for writing white papers and more conducive to changing diapers.
What do you do for work? I’m a writer and in February 2015 I launched Wentworth Financial Communications, which creates white papers, newsletters, blogs, and other forms of content marketing, and thought leadership for financial services firms and law firms.
What do you do for fun? I love to play golf and root for the St. Louis Cardinals and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
What’s one thing about you we’d never learn just by catching up at the coffee bar? I’m an instructor at Northwestern University. I teach two masters level classes, 1) Financial Accounting and 2) Communications and Persuasive Messages, in the Medill Integrated Marketing Communications program.
What do you do to keep yourself balanced? I remind myself that no matter how well my business does, it will never be what makes me happy. My family, friends, and faith are what do that.
How has your work/business benefited from working at a coworking space? Being around other entrepreneurs and professionals allows me to bounce ideas off them and learn from how they do things. Plus, its energizing to be around talented, driven, optimistic people.
Chicago recommendations/ favorite places. Chicago Brauhaus in Lincoln Square – Even if you don’t like German food (can’t blame you), the music and beer will more than make up for it.
