How To Make Homemade Pasta: The Merrill Lynch Dish (Chicago)
March 13, 2014 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In this class, leave behind the chaos of the workday and get ready to get your hands dirty… with flour and eggs.
We’ll usher in St. Patty’s Day – and hopefully, a break in zero-degree temps (wishful thinking?) – with homemade ravioli with a Luck o’ the Irish twist. Made with green pasta and some fun fillings, this delicious dish is a perfect combination of learning, camaraderie, with the culmination of eating your own creation. Fresh pasta is surprisingly easy to make and a great meal that will wow your friends, especially if you include them in the production!
In this class, Dabblers will learn how to make a variety of pasta doughs, including spinach, herb, and cracked pepper. From there we’ll turn the dough into green ravioli, and we’ll talk about how to make other pastas, such as pappardelle, tagliatelle, and tortolini. We’ll focus mostly on making the pasta itself, but we’ll also discuss preparation for different sauces and fillings, so you can cook your favorite pasta meal for yourself and those lucky enough to get invited to your dinner table.
The class will be experiential and taught through participation. We will enjoy beverages and appetizers while we cook, and at the end, we’ll dine on our freshly made food. An informal discussion about cooking pasta and a chance for questions will follow. You’ll never hit up the pasta aisle at your grocery store again!
