Sitting is the New Smoking – So try a Buoy.

Fairly recently, there was a burst of news around the shocking idea that if your job entails sitting in front of a computer screen or in long meetings, you are at high risk for lots of major health issues like heart disease and diabetes EVEN IF you workout several times a week.

“In a February 2013 survey of 63,048 middle-aged Australian men, those who sat for more than four hours a day were significantly more likely to have a chronic disease like high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The more time they spent sitting, the more likely the subjects were to have a chronic disease of some sort, regardless of their body mass index or how much they exercised.”1 Did you catch that last part? “..regardless of how much they exercised…”

Sitting is the new smoking. We need to start moving. Options like standing desks and treadmill desks are slowly working their way through the red tape of procurement and facilities management at big corporations.

So until your company catches on, what can you do? Or better yet, if you’re a start-up and you are about to go get your own space and pick out your own furniture?

Here’s one solution that we love at Enerspace Coworking. The Buoy. The name is so metaphorical. Designed to keep you afloat. To be your guide in a storm of too much screen time.  Dare I say, to save your life. And it comes in a dazzling array of stylish color combinations.

Meet the Buoy.

“Moving is good for you. Which is why Buoy swivels, turns, tilts, and moves up and down. It’s active sitting. It keeps our bodies active and our minds sharp.”2 Get your Buoy here.
